QMS 202 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Goback
Document Summary
Go back n- in a window what ever packet is lost, the packets after that lost packets will be discarded. And a negative acknowledgement will be received by the sender. So that it will again retransmit from the lost packet. For the window size 5 the following is the diagram of. In the above scenario the 1st packet is lost, and after that 2,3, 4 also discarded. And started transmission from 1. it is goback n. In a window if there is a packet that got lost. The packets after that lost packet will be accepted by the receiver. And a negative acknowledgement will be send by the receiver to the sender for lost packet. For window size 5 following is the selective repeat protocol. In the above scenario the 1st packet got lost and only it was retransmitted. So from the above conclusions we can say that protocol 1 is goback n and protocol 2 is selective repeat.
