Growth made it necessary to describe land in parcels smaller than original lots. This system evolved & the land identification became a series of instructions about how to walk around the boundaries of the land. All directions can be described as north degrees, east, north degrees west, south. Degrees can be further subdivided to minutes or seconds in all survey, all reference relate to the angle (bearing) in relation to the northerly direction of the north-south line. All bearing relates to degrees from north (east or west)
