On premise erp implementation: vanilla approach - use the standard erp pkg. Can sometimes be ineffective b/c if the business is used to doing dd/mmm/yyyy form but the software does it another way there need to be changes/adapt: custom approach modifications, best of breed - integrated w/ other software. Example of erp software vendors: epicor, ecount, sage: some companies sell erp in large quantities to small companies and some companies sell few erp to large companies. 2 large erp companies: oracle - started off as a database company, moved to software and applications and now they have. Erp in a whole bunch of verticals: sap. Important: vertical - a sales org deals w/ verticals. A vertical is: the same industry: divided up b/c the world is big, so sometimes erp companies will concentrate on the retail vertical or other industry verticals. In house: running computer center in house, erp implemented and supported in house.
