Something in quotations on the slides are test questions. It is about reasoning and evaluating your beliefs. Ask yourself if the evidence provided or the belief itself makes sense and is rational. Sociology and psychology study why we believe what we believe. Critical thinking is about which beliefs are worth having, we assume a belief is worth having providing its most likely true. Textbook de nition: critical thinking is the systematic evaluation or formulation of beliefs, or statements, by rational standards. (quiz question) Its systematic because its not just feelings, it involves distinct procedures and methods. We"re wired to make quick decisions on the spot but its important to stop and think rationally.
