Contemporary media analysis suggests the main commodity in media is us . : 1/3 of any given t. v. show ime is made up of commercial breaks. In short: there is litle separaion between capitalism, its ideology, and media logic. Late 19th century: key ideas in early educaion: to keep children occupied and out of trouble, teach basic skills: numeracy and literacy, develop obedient, docile, industrious, polite, punctual workforce. Funcionalist (order theory): it helps social cohesion, it words beter this way. Marxism (change theory): how does it maintain current class relaions: merit based, no equality of condiion, correlaion between educaion level and wealth, as public funding is cut fees increase. Educaion is infused with ideology that is pro-capitalist: adverising/assessment models and grading/social structure/presige schools/keeping children occupied and punishing rebellion.
