Apocalyptic movies can be seen as an attempt to address actual horrific events. There"s an element of believability in these films; fear of the unknown: normality is threatened by the monster, shows viewers that the things we hold importance to can go away/be taken away. It challenges the things that we trust; normality is ruined in the way we perceive the information. There is a collapse of identity, system, and order. In our daily lives, we take these things for granted. Our understanding of what we have come to depend on is challenged. The narrator ends by saying that (cid:498)regardless of cultural background, we should all be able to live comfortably together on transit, at least for an hour(cid:499) Tied to conflict theory, whereby the scarcity and competition that exists is for the use of shared public space. Unwritten rules of a society that determine how you should interact with others.
