Work conducted at arm"s length for government didn"t need to answer to government for their actions that they make public. Lots of freedom to study what they were interested in. Conscience of society considered themselves an elite group, one that should be respected for their opinions and knowledge. Criticized the establishment institutions education, art galleries took it upon themselves to tell these establishments how they were wrong, uncultured, dumb-down, and didn"t offer anyone anything of value regarding culture. Question dominant ideology questioned them through dominant ideology ruling class, most accepted ideas, how ruling parties maintain their power. 1 the system of ideas that are most acceptable by communities/in a given society. Views to explain reality that only belongs to a certain group of people it"s dominant, but doesn"t give an accurate perspective of reality ideology is almost anything that ends with ism liberalism, capitalism, feminism, etc .
