You have blood ties to extended family aunts/ uncles, cousins, grandparents. Biological siblings/ children you had blood ties to these people. Also blood relations to extended family cousins, aunts/ uncles, grandparents. Not until victorian era family was not defined by these terms until 1800"s. No differentiation between aunts/ uncles, cousins, grandparents emerged in mid-1800"s with the middle class bourgeoisie. Difference between middle class and wealthy there were no titles. Working class families could not live in nuclear family dwellings. Your family/ who could be your family is a legal definition. Used for legal definition of kin, who inherits if you do not have a will, who is considered your family (so that they are informed/ can see you when you are deathly ill) Very narrow definition of family blood relation.
