What is a media event? (john fiske, 1996) Watching tv, online, newspaper or article is classified as a media event. Distinction between real?" and mediated is blurred. Modern world cant tell the difference between representation and real becomes blurred. Going to superbowl game, actually attend to it, is real and going to watch it is a representation of the superbowl. Camera/view is one representation of something different from actually attending = blurred. Anyone can create then and view text differently. B/c they are representation are loosely related and they have their own reality b/c of their representation ex. Jose bat bat flip meme have own reality of different flipping objects, In modern event we don"t hear it mouth usually but from mass media. Our ability to engage to it and not just attending the event such as fb groups, blogs, (*digital age) Fact that sports haven"t changed that much of media representation.
