A study done on crime and punishment showed that 16. 9% of inmates in federal prison are aboriginal even though they only make up 3. 8% of the population. Survey also showed peoples perception on the crime and punishment. Caucasians help the highest number of inmates, however, this was not most canadians first guess. Social construction of race and the justice system: racial minorities and aboriginal people experience differential treatment in their encounters with the justice system (police systems, the courts, and correctional facilities).
