Work when you sell your labour for a wage. When you use the term is refers to paid work. This is because we live in a patriarchal society in which the way that we see the world is through a patriarchal lens or male gaze. As a result what comes to be seen as work is work that men do that men are associated with. What emerged in the industrial revolution as the bread winner role. When we talk about work in our society, mainstream notions of work is paid work. This is important because the way that we are going to understand work is inclusive of both paid and unpaid. Marx"s concept of the resrve army of labour. One of the things marx was talking about when he was talking about the different clases of people is that there were different forms of work and people worked in different sectors of the labour market.
