Air is faster than the ocean in terms of transportation. Although air freight is faster, ocean is cheaper in terms of cost but shipments that are urgently needed or are time sensitive require air freight transportation. Product that are price sensitive like furniture require ocean. Products that have a higher value to their size ration like an iphone are transported by air. Products that have a lower value to their size ration are transported by ocean. On december 17, 1903 the first manned flight had taken place. In the year 1919, the first commercial flight carrying shipment was transported by air. Between 1939-1945 improvements took place for the design of the planes due to the war requirements. (examples: cargo capability, distance and reliability). In the year 1930 the first two-day flight took place from berlin, germany to. During the year 1970, there was a major leap in the history of air transportation.
