Psychoactive: effects brain, causes change in perception/mood/thinking/behaviour. Drug abuse: excessive use of a drug that is inconsistent with accepted medical practice. Subcutaneous injection: placed below skin, absorbed thru skin tissue and gets into circulation (most vaccines) Intramuscular injection: many vaccines injected into muscle. Mild stimulant, low doses are relatively harmless increases heart rate excess consumption can cause shaking, difficulty concentrating, insomnia, irregular heartbeat. Leading preventable cause of disease, disability and death! Smoking strongly linked with cvd (kills more smokers than lung cancer) Carcinogens (anything smoked) damage dna, poisons weaken immune system. U are hypoxic most of the time and that"s why many pplk die from smoking (table 16. 2)
