Sheldonian somatotyping system ---> based on photoscopic ratings. A subjective evaluation of the shape of the individual using a 3 component scale with ratings from 1 to 7. Dr. barbara heath, dr. lindsay carter produced an anthropometrically (anthropometric measurements) based system for the prediction of the somatotype components. Endomorphy (1st component) = relative fatness in physique. Mesomorphy (2nd component) = relative development of the musculo-skelet al system. Ectomorphy (3rd component) = relative linearity of physique. Calculated either by using ratings or by the regression eqtns provided for each component. Face is small with pointed chin + nose. Prediction of % body fat from anthropometry, o-scale system, csep-path body composition assessment procedure. Skinfold measurements: duplicate measurements should not vary by more than 10%. Bone diameter measurements: not vary by more than . 1 cm. Muscle girth measurements: not vary by more than . 5 cm.
