BPK 241 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Lesser Trochanter, Ischial Tuberosity, Gluteus Maximus Muscle
Document Summary
Bones: femur, femoral head and neck, head is entirely round except for fovea- a ligament and artery, greater trochanter (most lateral, lesser trochanter (medial, femoral epicondyles and condyles. Ischial tuberosity: n. b. , ramus, symphysis, acetabulum derives from all 3, head of femur fits into this. Articulation: head of femur with acetabulum, socket deepened by acetabular labrum, labrum is the cartilage, ball & socket synovial joint. Movements: circumduction, flexion & extension, abduction & adduction, internal & external rotation. Iliopsoas: between iliopsoas muscle & anterior joint capsule, trochanteric, between greater trochanter of femur and gluteus maximus muscle. Sprains & strains: hx, violent torsion, or extension, hip flexion vs resistance (iliopsoas strain, ssx, deep pain, worse with movement, tx, rest, nsaid, physiotherapy. Bursitis: hx =overuse or direct blow, hip can rotate and create one leg longer than the other, ssx = tenderness, pain on movement, tx = nsaid, rest, physiotherapy. Bone = femur: head, neck, greater & lesser trochanters, shaft, condyles.
