Quality is the degree to which a set of inherent characteristics fulfill requirements (pmbok) Project or quality manager may need to make trade-offs between scope, quality and schedule to avoid the following: Achieving high levels of quality will impact schedule and budget projections. Planning, monitoring and controlling quality all take resources. Project management is often a delicate balance between concern for production and concern for people. Process quality: how well the process is to complete the project. Product (or service) quality is different than process quality. Project managers need to focus on: customer satisfaction. Manage their expectations, tell them what"s going on, avoid gold. Plating which is giving the customer extras: prevention over inspection. Cost of preventing mistakes is cheaper than correcting them. Quality must be planned and not inspected in: responsibility for quality. Quality standards must be overseen and possessed by all members in the group.
