Cmns 130 - week 13 - media and. The dominant understanding of relationship between media and globalization. Happiness in the global village between media and globalization today is what mirrlees calls the cultural globalization thesis. According to this perspective, global, media, is producing interconnection interdependence and understanding. Marshall mcluhan"s idea of a global village has been a reference point. Today, after more then a century of electric technology, we have extended our central nervous system in a global embrace, abolishing both space and time as far as our planet is concerned (mcluhan, laws of media, 1964: p. 3). The more you create village conditions, the more discontinuity and diversity. The global village absolutely ensures maximum disagreement on all points. It never occurred to me that uniformity and tranquillity were properties of the global village. It has more spite and envy (marshall mcluhan) Globalization is a process that has been occurring for centuries.
