78 views6 pages

Document Summary

The text, what gave rise to the text. Mental image that most of us have. Can be lectured by your parent, spouse, priest etc. , not just teacher] Can be thought of as a learning experience; project management, data analysis, etc. Discourse means dominant narrative of lecture gets produced and reproduced. Lecture can be thought as a factual thing that exists regardless of our interpretation of it as an objective entity. Teacher says what the lesson is, the channel is the lecture, audience is students, and the reason is to learn. Narrative that we come into university with; everyone has this idea. Debates and dialogue that we have on top of lectures are extra. Two assumptions at work here: positivists might assume everyone will know what lectures are, regardless of their background; lectures exist independently of our thoughts, word lecture is assumed to connect with the thing that is a lecture.
