Document Summary
Data and data environments are the actuality in which we are living in now. Data and database: we become data (immersed in it) Types of database documentaries: open or closed. Global platforms trying to make case that they are best place to constitute global publics: only they can create global documentaries on this scale, only they have platforms and resources. Database: any structured collection of data: quite fluid and flexible, can be any size. Modular information architecture: creating similarities among data, crating equivalences between people and databases. Vertov invented database cinema (mancovich), non-linear: all avant-garde experiences are normalized in software. Network aesthetics; co-creation: networks have become important part of visual culture, how we and how people who design networks work together to create the information/content that is out there (co-creation going on between platform and user) Concerned with trying to show you new things that could be done with the new medium.
