Document Summary

If you"re not paying for it, you become the product by scott goodson. As the internet evolves, our privacy has become a debate. Advertising once had a respect for privacy , but it eventually began to grow from infomercial / salesman calling during dinner hours, junk mail, and brand magazines with offers to present. Bbc found the google"s new privacy policy enables the internet to dig into it"s users information. Google"s defense is that it"s offering better and more efficient services for users. Critics think this is google"s way of gaining information about it"s users to gain profit from advertising. Google makes 38 billion a year off advertising. Recording information we search for or insert allows targeted advertisement. There"s no way for google users to prevent collection of their personal data. We can only minimize it by not being logged into one of their services when using it. Although they"re free, the trade off is our privacy.
