Early family life is essential to social and antisocial development of an individual. Gottfredson and travel hirschi state that defective upbringing and neglect is primary cause of crime. Family size, parental afection, supervision and monitoring of child, parental deviance, parental aggressiveness and temper, and parental mental health have been found to be antecedent predictors of serious criminal behavior. Family related risk factors are identical across two continents. Childhoods are characterized by harsh, punitive, overly lax or neglectful parenting, parental rejection and child abuse and maltreatment: 68% childhood maltreatment. Teachers described problem children as cheating, crafty, cruel, disobedient, impudent, lying, boredom prone and rude. Children with poor emotional conditioning fail to appreciate the consequences of their actions, leading to a deicit of avoidance behavior. Lack of guilt o: emotional void contributes to under arousal or chronic boredom, leading to sensation seeking. 1: dual pathway developmental theory, coercion developmental theory, age graded theory.
