Too much exposure toare just few of many reasons routinely advanced in popular culture to explain youth crime. We must be sure to think critically about matters & enquire whether assertions being made have been tested in methodologically rigorous scientific inquiry. In popular, we too often see ppl looking for simply way to explain complex phenomenon. Academic, theoretical explanation of delinquency have varied widely over last 200 years. Theoretical explanations of crime popular at any given time may have profound impact on youth justice policy prevailing at time. E. g. early positivist theories that looked at biological & social causes of delinquency were popular at time jda was brought into force. Not fruitful to attempt to use single theory to explain phenomena as diverse as youth crime.
