To publicly ascertain the facts leading up to and surrounding a sudden, unnatural or unexpected death. To make reasonable recommendations to prevent future loss of life under similar circumstances. Authorize any person to exercise these powers. Enter and inspect any place relating to the death. Seize anything pertinent to the investigation: deaths proceeding to inquest: Deaths that occur while in police custody or lock-up may proceed to inquest.
