Document Summary

Social support for all kids in bc we have social responsibility framework. At top level: bullying is something we need to attend to. How this gets attended to is very different across districts and schools. Vancouver school district had many disputes over bullying. North-van district had a law suit from a family. Some anti-bullying is very superficial compared to others, very variable. When you have large groups of same age kids together with minimal supervision = creates risk of bullying. these large groups will try to organize themselves in social hierarchy. Huge diff from 20 years ago as now there is a lot of talk about bullying recess and lunch hour - in classroom there is 30 kids but during lunch there are 400 on a playground. Often times what we see as discriminatory practices are under the practices of religion triangle program - in ontario - for lgbt kids for environment where they felt safe.
