Document Summary

The lion story is deliberately unclear literary ambiguity. Natural lion: creatures can"t change their natural ways, the scorpion goes down to the river and the frog is at the river. The scorpion asks if the frog will take him across the river, and the frog said no because his skin was soft. The scorpion said no, because if he stings him he will drown too. So the frog took him and the scorpion stung him half way. The chorus is on the stage like a prop but they don"t really do anything: that"s why we call them the chorus and not a group of characters, they often don"t have personalities. If they do have personalities they"re collective personalities. He was easily the most pessimistic of all the playwrights. For him the cosmos is simply against us. The world is not a happy place, it is not really a home for us.
