Navarre scott momaday - the way to rainy mountain. Loneliness = an aspect of the land: all things in the plane = isolate. There is no confusion of objects in the eye: to look upon that landscape in the early morning = lose your sense of proportion w/ the rising sun. Imagination comes to life; this is where you think creation has begun. Writer returns to rainy mountain in july: grandma died in the spring, wanted to be at her grave. Lived to be very old and at last infirm. Only living daughter was w/her when she dead: likes to thin of grandma as a child. When born, the kiowas were living the last great moment of their history. For more than 100 years, controlled a large open range. Was also in alliance w/others, so they ruled an even greater part of the southern plains. They were among the finest horsemen the world has ever known.
