Oppression- a form of injustice, use authority or law force to restrict freedom of others. Feminist argue that women unjustly held back by social and legal structures. Patriarchy- rule of the father used by feminist to analyze the principles of women"s oppression. Called women"s liberalist, liberating, be free from this oppression. Some men are disadvantaged and oppressed, current and historical distribution of power relations. Feminist believe women are systematically disadvantaged and oppressed. Happens in all spheres of life, in state institution (education), decision-making bodies, employment, industry etc. the way family is structure sustains patriarchy. Kate millett- male domination and the power relationships men use to dominate women. Marxist feminist- analyze relationship between subordination of women and organization of modes of production (economics). Tried to transform theories of karl marx, to account for women"s subordination not just class oppression. Believe that women"s oppression can"t be separated from other exploitations in capitalist societies.
