Battle of tannenberg and the mansurian lakes: august 20-26. Battle of marne: sept 5-12, basically a stalemate (cid:862)e(cid:374)e(cid:373)y alie(cid:374)s(cid:863) A label applied to entire peoples (ethnic groups) based on the perception of their collective disloyalty. Developed by general staffs and practiced by armies; affected military strategy vis- -vis civilian populations. Orthodox brutalized by hungarian empire while catholics brutalized by russians.
