Thats why so many former colonies are known for their british heritage - the truest extension of great. Ethnocentrism = major regions of white migration, most authentic people of the empire, became self - governing dominions. Became primary imperial trading partners for migration, war, trade etc. Use of the younger son as a family unit that expands britain"s greatness. Canada could be seen as the younger brother. Lands were never purely british colonies, there were indigenous people before them, and migrants from abroad. The salvation army often organized trial, or interest free loans to serve in the colonies. Mean of landlords to take care of impoverished lands. indentured labour/servitude: a poor person in former times who agreed to work for an employer for a specific number of years.
