Observation -> hypothesis -> prediction -> experiment/further observation -> result -> A hypothesis an educational guess while a theory approaches a main concept or idea. In the scientific method, we try to disprove hypotheses. 1. capable of being falsified or corrupted: able to be proven false, therefore testable. Models, hypotheses and theories are only rejected or support. Hypothesis must be testable: can be falsifiable therefore testable. Theory: statements or principles to explain a group of fats or phenomena. Experimental variable: purposely changed or manipulated. (independent variable) The parameter that responds or changes is known as the dependent variable. Test groups: a group of subjects that are exposed to the experimental variable. Control group: a group for comparison that is not exposed to the experimental variable. Occurs when either researcher nor participants know which group is receiving the treatment.
