Jan 13 lecture notes beliefs, science, evidence, faith, etc. Belief is something perceived to be true. Beliefs don"t necessarily need to be seen, heard, felt, tested, proven. Faith can gives rules/principles to live by a lifestyle: can also be interfering with life, extremes i. e. lay beliefs. Faith can be more stronger, comes from external forces. Beliefs can come from past experiences, while faith can be more for the future. Belief may be something to be taught, while faith may be something to be learned by your own. Culture and other exposures can shape your beliefs: constantly bombarded with info that can be continually integrated in you belief/faith. Scientific evidence: evidence proven through scientific/experimental procedures that can be repeated (own definition) evidence to support or counter a theory/hypothesis uses the scientific method; test, experiment, come to a conclusion. When it comes to cam, a big issue is the absence of evidence.
