There are several cams that rely on using the placebo effect and believe that deceiving their patients is important in the procedure/method. Remember it is still thought of as unethical if a patient is given a placebo and not told about it. Important this course is about critical review/thinking of concepts and evidence, benefits and harms regarding cams. Homeopathy: alternative medical system developed in germany more than 200 years ago. Like curses like notion that a disease can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in healthy people. Homeopathy comes from substances that come from plants, minerals or animals. Treatments are individualized tailored to each person. Problem: there are no standardization which means it will be very difficult to study. Conlusion little to no evidence to support homeopathy as an effective treatment for any specific condition.
