IAT 110 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Wound, Clay Animation, Frame Rate
Document Summary
Iat 110 - lecture 9 - introduction to stop motion. Process of making illusions of motion using series of drawings/photographs that are slightly different from one another & that when viewed quickly one after another create appearance of movement. Retention of visual image for short period of time after removal of stimulus that produced it. Phenomenon producing illusion of movement when viewing motion pictures. Optical illusion of movement in animation & film created by playing frames at certain speed. Refers to how many images per second video is playing. Frame rate is expressed in frames per second/fps. Greater number of images you capture per second, smoother your animation will appear when it is replayed. 30 fps considered absolute maximum required for animation. Amateur stop motion can be very effective at achieving smooth stop motion at 15 fps. 2d or 3d animation technique to make any object appear to move on its own. Object moved by small increments b/w indiv photographs/frames.
