"snow white" (aka disney"s folly) released 1937: disney"s principles of animation squash & stretch, anticipation, staging straight ahead/poseto-pose follow through & overlapping action slow in & slow out, arcs secondary action, timing, exaggeration solid drawing, appeal. Straight ahead vs. pose to pose: straight ahead animation begins with the first drawing and works toward the end of a scene, pose to pose animation is planned out and charted. Key drawings are done at intervals throughout the scene. Follow through & overlapping action: add variations to timing of loose parts. Little extra actions make it more interesting: new action starts before previous one stops. Full stops are rare: when the main body of the character stops, all other parts continue to catch up to the main mass of the character, such as arms, long hair, clothing, or a long tail. Intermediate frames: process of generating in-betweens called tweening.
