There is always a conflict between science and religion. Rene de scarte - i think therefore i am . By doubting you"re thinking you, if you"re able to doubt yourself, and you"re thinking you can presume your existence. The individual is self-absorbed, and becomes socially isolated. Able to see the planets and moons by using the telescope. We can control everything, yet we become isolated (isolation can control us) This discovery upset people because they always thought the earth was in the centre of the universe; since god created the earth. Ptolemy was a philosopher that thinks earth is in the centre, but his theory was challenged by copernicus thought that the sun was in the centre of the universe. This continued to upset the church because it shows god had no master plan; also you can go to another planet to objectively study earth. Intellectual curiosity (sometimes both concept can blended together)
