Logic and critical thinking is concerned with declarative sentences. The canucks did not make the playoffs. #1 sentence is imperative sentence, issues a command. #2 sentence is interrogative sentence, asks a question. #3 sentence is declarative sentence, declare something about the way the world is it is the only kind of sentence that can be true or false. Because logic and critical thinking are concerned with the rules for correct reasoning and since reasoning aims at the truth, logic and critical thinking are concerned with declarative sentences. A sentence is just a linguistic statement composed of letters and simbols but consider: Vancouver nul team did not make the playoffs. These 2 sentences say the same thing they are different sentences but express the same proposition. A proposition is a state of affairs. It is the concent of a sentences what is expressed. A proposition is either true or false and only declarative sentences express propositions.
