Maximalist approach: canada is special and that we have such nice values, better than others. Everyone wants to be us and that canada is a model country. Traditionalist position: specific characteristics that reflect our values that make cfp unique. Hard power community: negotiating a trade deal as good for both countries, mutual benefits, threat to sign with other countries. When other recognize it, it legitimizes canada"s role in the international. When we assert values and follow through, we are seen as legitimate by un. Psycho-social values: values one thinks represent canada. Political-operational: operationalized in cfp, spoken about by minister of foreign affairs, pm, and acted upon, ie: collective security and economy. Worked with other communities to make it more inclusive. Aboriginals see their relationship to crown as nation-to-nation so it is seen under both international and domestic law.
