Document Summary
It afects how we perform in the classic forms of reasoning as well as less well deined judgment and decision making situations. We tend to search for evidence that conirms our beliefs. Two forms of logic: syllogisms, conditional reasoning. For reasoning tasks, people are not good at solving problems correctly when the problems are presented in an abstract form. Concrete, real life concepts are easier to solve. Sometimes our general world knowledge prevents us from seeing the pure answer to logic problems. Syllogism or categorical syllogism: a three statement logical form, with the irst two parts stating the premises or statements taken to be true, and the third part stating a conclusion based on those premises. Goal of syllogistic reasoning is to understand how diferent premises can be combined to yield logically true conclusions: also to understand what combinations of premises lead to invalid or incorrect conclusions.
