Why? Social roles? -collection of 3+ people who interact and are interdependent -needs and goals lead members to rely on each other -why we join groups? -basic human need to belong -evolutionary aid to survival, helps with food, safety, mates -important aspect of identity -within groups, people often occupy well-defined social roles -“shared expectations by group members about how particular members are to behave” how do groups influence individual performance? -social
