Study of cognitive, social and emotional processes must account for their embodiment in living, acting beings. Adult embodied cognition (ec): role of the body is cognition may not seem particularly novel, given that bodily action was central to piaget"s theory of cognitive development. Meaning is constructed by the developing person. Cognitive science: bodily factors play a role in mental life is often considered through the lens of ec which has become a major area of study in adults. Body plays a constitutive role in cognition (piaget"s theory: central role) The origins of embodied cognition in psychological science. Cognitivism: the mind becoming views as an isolated information approach. Aim to make mental process more transparent by modelling them on computers. Became algorithmic routine that would solve speci c, highly constrained problems. Between higher, more abstract level outlining the general nature of them problem/task at hand: algorithm. Lower level of implementation: physical means (computations would be realized)
