Confirms to the child that what is happening is wrong. Children (particularly very young children) are inherently vulnerable. If the abuser is a trusted adult (as is often the case), vulnerability is heightened. The child is helpless to change the situation. Most child sexual assault occurs repeatedly and often committed by a trusted adult. If the assault continues, the child would often feel trapped and must often learn to survive.
