What is crime: violations of socially constructed laws- crime is a social construction based on time, space, and location. Deviance is more than just an act: social construction, abiding by the assumed social norm of any given situation. Are actions or issues that directly or indirectly affect many members of society. Are related to moral and value judgements. Are based on assumptions about what is acceptable versus what is unacceptable. Involve socio-economic factors that may influence judgements about certain groups. Theories are tentative answers to commonly asked questions about events and behaviour.
