Document Summary
Week 4 1: risk factors for sexual offending in adults. Actual, attempted, or threatened sexual contact with another person that is non-consensual: children, who don"t have the capacity to make decisions even if they are willing to engage in the act. Varying types of offences with levels of sexual aggression. Male community perpetration rate is 5 20% Recidivism is relatively low: approximately 20% in 10 years will commit another (detected) sexual offence (13. 7% for meta- analysis) Detection rate may be lower than general. Non sexual re offending is more likely. Family relationship factors: parental violence, parent child relationship. Peer attitudes and behaviors: sex approval, peer sexual aggression. Antisocial peers: gang membership, intimate partner processes and characteristics, partner conflict. Sex related cognitions: willingness to victim blame, willingness to commit sexual violence, denial is not a risk factor. Gender based cognitions: rape myth acceptance, traditional gender roles, hospitality towards women. There is a need for comprehensive prevention programs.
