Self-concept (sc) is a collection of these domain specific schemas. Direct behavior in ways that elicit feedback consistent with established ss: similar to discrepancy-reduction, maintains consistent self-view (sv) Generate motivation to move the present self towards a desired future self: similar to discrepancy-creation. Once person establishes a ss in specific domain, they act to preserve that sv. Individuals seek out information that"s consistent with sc: we adopt self-presentational signs and symbols that announce who we are, we interact with others who treat us in ways consistent with sv.
