Defining clinical psychology and history of the profession. Mental health matter, it is important and so we need clinical psychologists to be able to help those who are dealing with these issues. 1/5 canadians experience a mental health or addictions problem in any given year. Estimates can go higher depending on which setting you"re talking about. 70% of problems begin during childhood or adolescence. Its common for people to experience mental health problems. Young people between 15-24 are more at risk of facing a mental health issue. This can cause suffering in all areas of life, from work, personal life, relations etc. Nearly 4000 suicides in canada each year, link between mental health an mortality is important, second leading cause of death mental health. As many people suffered from clinical depression as from chronic health conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.
