Families living in poverty battle to get food on the table. Kids with optimal environment can have less stimulation around them. They need to be in high optimal environments: down syndrome is not a rare disorder and the life expectancy is not as short as it used to be due to research in recent years, approx. 1% of all instances are due to genetics. 99% is random and risk increases when the mother is (35+: most people with down syndrome have cognitive delays that are mild to moderate. In the public system there is no separate classes for children who have intellectual disabilities. People with down syndrome can form meaningful intimate relationships: most common chromosomal disorder. It has multiple systemic complications as a part of the syndrome. Theres a wide range of phenotypic variation (behavioural outcomes) for each child: facial features: flattened facial appearance, epicentral fold, upward-slanting palpebral fissure, flat nasal bridge, protruding tongue.
