Talks abt 3 diff ethnographies that he"s written. 3 things that fassin learned from his own personal experience w ppl responding to his ethnographies. Richness of ethnography fades away to translation and the text vanishes. Authors are responsible for claiming the afterlife of their ethnographic work. These anths this week are more grounded in anth research, then publish it, then take it to translating it in diff forms. Often anths aren"t able to get their ideas down to bite-sized chunks (eg. quote for radio) bc the nuances of the ideas are quite complex and layered. Most of the readings at the beginning of the term called for public anth.
