Document Summary

All dogs need grooming, grooming includes more than just clipping; nails, ears & skin must be maintained. Clipping was initially used to help breeds perform the tasks they were bred for, but has slowly evolved into fancy patterns for the royal/rich. Today, people have pets for different reasons, and owners may not wa(cid:374)t a (cid:862)show dog(cid:863) look. All owners want a pet that is clean & well groomed. Styling options should be appropriate for the animal based on the lifestyle of the pet and the owners wishes. Groomers are also educators and answer questions pet owners have. Business can be as ambitious as you are. Your skills are portable; corporations, mobile grooming, etc. Currently no standard regulations governing the industry. Grooming school: use of equipment; brushes, clippers, scissors, dryers, bathing techniques; health concerns, infections, skin irritation, animal behaviour; learning to read an animal, handling techniques, breed standard patterns, fastest route; 2-3 months. Wee-chon: west highland white terrier x bichon frise.
