3 types of love: companionate love people we trust, we share activities and interests with these people. 2)compassionate love comes from communal relationships, want to take care of someone and feel empathetic toward their needs: romantic love associated with intense emotion and sexual desire. Feel the falling in love feeling, madly in love , six with love , etc. First period of love with any partner oxytocin is flowing (honeymoon stage) Love is deepening and becoming more intimate and stable. True love has all 3- romantic love at first, then fades into compassionate but has companionate because you want to be with them. Expressing romantic love is seen as an important stage in developing a committed relationship. Relationship satisfaction, investment in the relationship and the quality are important in deciding if we are committed to the relationship or not. Rewards/satisfaction comparison level (do they give you what you deserve?) Makes us more committed when we notice their investments.
