Not taught about birth control, stis etc. , just told not to have sex: teaching kids that sex is a moral downfall and something to be avoid- ed at all costs. Slut shaming the process where women and girls are attacked for their sexual. Stems from the purity myth and the cult of virginity. Happens when a person publically or privately insults a woman because she expressed her sexuality in a way that does not conform to normal or ap- propriate standards of female sexuality (ie cult of virginity) Assumptions about masculinity say that men should seek out sexual activity, but women should only do it when they are in an intimate relationship. When they violate this standard, women are subject to slut shaming. When women do things that women are commended for doing sexually, they are shamed.
